Run, Run, Run!
August 18, 2008
Do you want to get rid of all that inner stress and pressure deep within you? Do you think you need to move around once in a while?
Perhaps you should go out for a short run once in a while! Running benefits everyone in its own way. Whether you are a kid, adult, or senior, running could make you feel like you have gotten rid of all the “bad stuff? within your body.
1) Running helps lower blood pressure by maintaining the elasticity of the arteries. When someone runs, his/her arteries are expanding and contracting more than usual, which keeps the arteries’ elastic blood pressure low. People that are constantly running have a lower blood pressure.
(2) Running makes you feel unexhausted… honestly!
If you run, you tend to feel like you have accomplished something after you ran. You would want to continue running, regardless of the aches and pains that you are sensing from your feet. This kind of feeling makes everyone feel relaxed. Not only does it feel relaxing, but also it is extremely addicting. Instead of going home to drink a bottle of wine or alcohol (which is another addiction most people have), you will want to think about the next time you go out for a jog. It seldom exhausts you unless you absolutely dislike the swift feeling of air rushing in your face.
(3) Running decreases hunger.
You surely do not believe me on this, but it is actually true. Instead of making you feel hungry after you ran, you might even feel like you don’t have much of an appetite. Run before you feel like grabbing that 100% fat chocolate cake, it really does help you save all those grams of fat! If you constantly run, you might switch to a low-fat diet too (if you don’t have one).
(4) Running helps decrease depression.
For goodness sake, just forget about that argument you had with your sister this morning. Go out for a quick run to get rid of all those negative thoughts in your head. Running will make you forget your worries for the time being; it could even save you from depression. People who run are less fatigued, less confused, and less tense. Go out for a run, and you won’t regret it!
(5) Amazingly… you can run indoors now!
In almost all sports-gear selling stores, you will find a section that sells treadmills, and other running devices. Treadmills are a great choice when you feel like running indoors. Where do you run if it rains outside? Just hop on the treadmill and start running! You could bring your iPOD along for entertainment too.
(6) Run on a trail.
If you do not like running around the street, grass, or park, another option is to go to a hiking trail for a run. Hiking trails tend to be bumpier, but it’s definitely worth it to see all the wonderful scenery around you. Try to spot some animals as you run!
Now, why are you still reading this? Go outside or go to your treadmill and start running! Burn off the tension and stress that you have been holding on to for such a long time! Just relax as you run!
